One of my wife Liz's and my favourite walks is the stroll along the North Shore promenade at Llandudno on the North Wales coast.
At regular intervals along the promenade you'll find one of these shelters.
They're not the most ornate or pretty examples of seaside architecture, but they've been there since time immemorial, defying all that the weather and tide can throw at them.
So I have a soft spot for these utilitarian concrete shells, and I'll often stop to photograph one as we saunter past.
I photographed this one just as the sun was about to set to the northwest, with the soft, golden light giving a momentary beauty to the face of an old friend.
