The story behind this image

One of the wonderful aspects of our coastline is that it's constantly on the move.

It only took a few months for the prevailing winds to blow enough sand off the beach at Llandudno's West Shore to partially bury these recently installed slatted fences.

My wife Liz and I were taking one of our customary strolls along the edge of the beach from Llandudno to Deganwy on the North Wales coast when I came across this eye catching arrangement of fence and sand.

With the evening summer sun casting its golden rays across the dunes, picking out contours and textures, and the hills of Penmaenmawr edged in light on the far side of the river Conwy estuary, this was a visual treat not to be passed by.

So we took a five (or was it ten?) minute pause while I photographed the arrangement of fences and sand from many different angles, seeking out the strongest composition I could find while being careful not to leave footprints.

Of all the frames I took, this one immediately jumped out when viewed in Lightroom has having the most impact, with the fence lines forming strong diagonals across the scene.
