A late spring evening found my wife Liz and myself enjoying the last of the sunshine at Llanfairfechan on the North Wales coast.
Llanfairfechan is one of those charming welsh seaside resorts that it seems that time has forgotten, and we often go there at the close of the day for a walk along the coastal path, enjoying the sights, smells and sounds of the sea.
I'd already enjoyed taking photos of the many lines of groynes that crisscross the beach here, in the golden light of the setting sun, but once the sun had set into a clear horizon I was reluctant to pack away my camera gear, hoping that the twilight sky might produce some nice colours.
Well I wasn't disappointed, as the sky on the horizon turned a vivid shade of orange, contrasting beautifully with the cool blue tones of the blue sky overhead reflecting the waters of the sea as the tide rose up the beach.
So time for just one more photo then, using a line of partially submerged groynes as a silhouetted lead in line pointing to Puffin Island far away on the distant horizon.
A six stop neutral density filter allowed me to extend the exposure time to thirty seconds, blurring the sea and allowing those striking colours to shine through.
