Everyone loves a sunny, warm day out in the beautiful landscape of the Snowdonia National Park.
That's why, in summer, the more popular spots are absolutely heaving with visitors enjoying the great outdoors.
But on a gloomy, cold and wet winter's day the situation is far different, and you can have the views pretty much to yourself.
I must admit that I love Snowdonia in winter, as the landscape is reduced to its barest and most desolate.
There's a melancholy beauty in the cold, damp, cloud wracked mountains, with just a sprinkle of snow on the summits to add a spot of brightness to lighten the gloom.
In terms of winter views, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place than looking over Llyn Mymbyr towards the peaks of the Snowdon Horseshoe, especially as the sun dips towards the horizon.
These mountains usually attract more than their fair share of clouds, but that can give some really interesting and dramatic skies, such as on this occasion in December 2017, as my wife Liz and I took advantage of a break in the weather to enjoy a drive around Snowdonia.
With patches of sunlight and shadow chasing each other across the undulating landscape it was a treat to stop by the side of Llyn Mymbyr for a while and watch the show unfold.
Of course, the odd photo helps me to remember a lovely day out in North Wales.
