The road out to the tip of Mallorca's Cap de Formentor has to be driven to be believed. It's a switchback of hairpin bends, precipices and crazy cyclists.
But after an hour or so's white knuckle ride the intrepid explorer is greeted by this marvellous view of the very impressive lighthouse.
To get this photo I had to stop the car and shoot hand-held out of the car window, with a total stopped time of around ten seconds - any longer and I would have caused a trafiic jam on the single track road!
A monochrome conversion in Photoshop brings out the drama of the scene, shot under harsh afternoon light.
When we next visit Mallorca (and we will) I'm going to re-visit this location.
With a bit more time and planning involved I'll park up safely and walk back to get this view again, around sunrise or sunset, and maybe do a timelapse as well.
I'm really looking forward to it!
