This view of Mallorca is from a smallish boat out in the Badia de Pollença.
As you can see, Mallorca is by no means flat, and the mountains are quite majestic, even from this distance.
But no matter how beautiful the scene in the distance, when it comes to composing a photograph some foreground interest is normally required to add structure and interest.
Fortunately for me, the prow of the boat in which we were sailing was available, with the combined shape of the wooden bow and steel mast stay making an arrow shape that pointed very conveniently at the mountains and clouds which were what I wanted to draw the viewer's attention to.
