It's a cold and damp February day as I'm sitting at my computer writing about this photo, and as I write I'm being transported into another place of warmth and sun and relaxation.
Come with me if you like!
The azure waters of the Mediterranean lap the shoreline at Porto Christo on the east coast of the island of Mallorca as my wife Liz and I, plus daughter, husband and grandchildren explore the beach and rocks in this lovely place.
The combination of colours is just entrancing when viewed through the polarising filter on the front of my camera, cutting out the glare of the mid afternoon sun and allowing the sub-surface details of rock and sand to be seen clearly.
Indeed, if I had to choose just one filter to keep, it would be my polariser, as there's just no way its effect can be mimicked in Photoshop, especially for shooting scenes involving water - it just make so much of a difference.
Eventually the sight of the sea proves too much, so it's back to the car to drop off the camera, then back to the sea, this time for a cooling swim followed by an ice cream.
Did you enjoy the mental trip?!
