This is a photo of the very attractive promenade that winds along the headland at Porto Christo on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.
However what makes this photo work for me isn't just the lovely location, it's the curvy leading lines formed by the railings and shadows that lead the viewer's eye through the frame and up to the diagonal line of the cliff face at the top of the composition, with just a hint of a building to provide a focal point.
It took me quite a lot of thought and camera re-positioning to achieve the effect I wanted, and it's this deliberate positioning of elements in a photograph that makes that subtle difference between a crafted image and a snapshot.
