The coastline at sa Calobra on the north-western coast of Mallorca is a fascinating geological area, comprised of limestone with numerous exposed caves to marvel at.
Accessed by an amazing hairpin road through the Tramuntana mountains, this seaside resort has been thoughfully developed with a long promenade that leads through tunnels cut in the rock leading to a secluded bay.
The photo from which this image was created was taken at the far end of the tunnel, overlooking the bay in question.
What appealed to me in taking this photo was the contrast between the warm colours of the rock over my head, set against the deep blue of the twilight sky and sea outside.
Added to that were the complimentary shapes of the tunnel end and the silhouette of the headland on the far side of the bay, making diagonal stripes of different tones and colours across the composition.
Very pleasing to my eye.
