I was strolling along the promenade at Port de Soller on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, with nothing much on my mind, when I was suddenly poked in the ribs by my wife Liz.
This rude awakening was followed by the admonition to 'look up there!'
Well, I looked 'up there', and to my surprise saw these two life sized bronze female figures looking down at us from a balcony overlooking the promenade.
The sight was such a blend of the incongruous and surreal, with the figures being so lifelike, that of course, we had to take photos of them.
Liz had her mobile phone and I was burdened down with full DSLR kit, which normally can be a bit of a pain to cart around.
But on this occasion I was glad I had it, as a polarising filter was definately needed to take the shine off the weathered bronze and allow the deep rich colours to be seen in all their loveliness.
I don't know who commissioned the sculptures and decided to put them there, but whoever it was has a great eye for a pleasing and quirky aesthetic.
Nice one!
