If you want to drive on some crazy, but glorious roads, then I can heartily recommend a trip to the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.
On the west of the island lies the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains , with the serpentine MA-10 road running along their length from north to south.
Branching off from the MA-10 and heading west to the seaside resort of sa Calobra is the even more twisty Ma-2141, containing the famous 'knot' loop pictured here.
Liz and I had stopped for some refreshment at a roadside bar next to the 'knot' so while she was busy ordering drinks I wandered off up a nearby slope to get a decent angle looking down on the road loop, set against the shapely background hill that sets it off so well.
A subsequent conversion to monochrome brought out the drama of the scene with more force than the original colour RAW file.
