A beautiful sunny afternoon in early May and my wife Liz and I were busy exploring somewhere we'd never been before, the reservoir of Marchlyn Mawr and its surroundings, high up in the Glyderau mountains at the foot of Elidir Fach.
This reservoir is part of the Electric Mountain pumped hydro-electric storage system, and we were guided here with directions supplied by local photographer Nick Livesey of the Soul of Snowdonia Gallery, so a big 'Thank You' to him for pointing us in the right direction.
The walk up to the reservoir is a gentle one, up a well tarmaced and maintained service road, while taking in some lovely views of the surrounding mountains and landscape on the way.
The sky was almost cloudless during the early afternoon, but as the day wore on a weather front approached, presaged by a thin layer of cirrus clouds which added some lovely detail to the otherwise bland sky, helping this image of the road and mountain to come alive.
