The sixteen hour long summer days up here at 53°N latitude in North Wales give my wife Liz and I more time to venture further afield, exploring some of the beauties of the Snowdonia National Park that at other times of the year we run out of daylight to visit.
One region of the park that we always make a point of visiting during summer is the area around Barmouth, Fairbourne and the wonderful Cregennan Lakes, high in the mountains at the foot of Cader Idris.
Just a short climb up a grassy hill from the Cregennan Lakes car park brings you to this viewpoint, overlooking the magnificent Mawddach Estuary and the extraordinary feat of engineering that is the Barmouth railway viaduct.
Not a view to be missed, and although my photo gives a good impression of the scenery, nothing beats seeing it for yourself!
