Light, fluffy cumulus clouds cast a patchwork of sunlight and shadow across the landscape of the Snowdonia National park on a glorious summer's day.
My wife Liz and I are making the most of the sixteen hours of daylight up here at 53°N to venture southwards from our home in North Wales to check out the beautiful scenery around the Mawddach Estuary between the twin seaside resorts of Barmouth and Fairbourne.
Having spent the early part of the afternoon on an invigorating hike around the marvellous Cregennan Lakes, high in the mountains above the estuary, we then dropped back down to sea level for a picnic tea, parking up at Fairbourne Point with stunning views inland to the mountains of Snowdonia away to the east.
It was low tide when we arrived at Fairbourne, with acres of golden sand laid out before us, glowing in the warm light of the westering sun with the river Mawddach cutting through.
Of course, I didn't just sit there munching pizza, as with so much beauty of offer I couldn't resist the urge to capture as comprehensive a variety of the views on offer as I could in a series of still photos and videos.
For this particular image I used a wide angled lens to emphasise the amazing cloud patterns in the skies above above, using the Mawddach estuary, mountains and stranded boat to anchor the composition in the lower portion of the frame.
