Standing on the shores of the Menai Straits as the sun sets out to the west over the Irish Sea is a truly wonderful experience.
With only the occasional cry of a passing gull to punctuate the gentle whisper of the wavelets as the sea kisses the shingle, this is a place for contemplation and prayer.
Mind you, my contemplation of the beauties around me is tempered somewhat by the need to regularly monitor the exposure, battery state and so on of my trusty Canon 5D as it fires away every seven seconds taking stills for my latest timelapse video sequence, from which this exposure was selected for further processing.
I kept on shooting till way past sunset and was very pleased with the final video, but I think that this still image captures very nicely the beauty and tranquility of this part of Wales.
