The story behind this image

Climbing the slopes of Moel Famau very early one morning in March, just on the cusp of twilight with the sky to the east lightening imperceptibly, I turned around to look back towards Foel Fenlli to see a very faint milky way arching over the 'V' shaped valley between the two mountains.

With the sky now starting to pick up the first glow of astronomical twilight, there was no time to lose if I wanted to capture an image contining the milky way before it disappeared in the increasing brightness.

In fact, I only managed this one exposure before the milky way vanished for another day, and I continued on my morning climb with the dawn chorus breaking out around me.

Just sublime!
