At first glance this image of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), North Wales, could have been taken on a lovely, warm summer's day.
But a closer look reveals trees bare of foliage, giving lie to the fact that this image was, in fact, shot in winter.
December 2016 in fact, on a glorious, bright, cold afternoon in-between Christmas and New Year when my wife Liz and I decided on a bit of fresh air and exercise in Loggerheads Country Park.
This is the view looking west from the top of a high limestone escarpement, a favourite spot for me to indulge in a bit of photography.
Normally I'll come up here early in the morning or towards sunset to catch the best light, but in winter the sun stays at such a low angle above the horizon at this latitude of 53°N that you get nice, revealing light all day long.
So I made the best of the lovely weather and great view to capture this daylight image of one of my favourite scenes.
And all just ten minutes' drive from my home.
