I'm stood on Deck 10 of the P&O liner Arcadia, gawping in awe as the fantastic Montenegrin coast slips by on both sides of the ship as we sail up what amounts to a fjord on the way to our berth at the historic town of Kotor.
Just as we turn eastwards by the village of Perast there's the famous church of Our Lady of the Rocks on our port side, framed by the impressive Montenegrin mountains in the background.
You can read all about the legend of this church on Wikipedia, but I knew nothing of this at the time. All I was interested in as we sailed by was photographing the stunning view in the best possible way.
However, having seen such an unusual and striking sight, I made it my business to find out more of the history behind this most unusually located church, and that for me is one of the joys of visiting new places. There's so much more to learn about places than just how to take a good photo of them.
