Wandering aimlessly round the back streets of old towns is something that my wife Liz and I really enjoy doing.
The tourist areas are all very nice, but we find you get a much more authentic feel for a place by diverting off down alleyways and seeing what you can find.
This is just what we did during our day's cruise stopover at Kotor on the coast of Montenegro in the eastern Mediterranean.
As part of a UNESCO world heritage site, the old town of Kotor is pretty much undeveloped (thank goodness), and it's easy to walk a few metres off the main streets and find scenes like this, just begging to be photographed.
I particularly liked the arrangement of light and dark in the archway, and the single touch of green colour on the old door, acting as a focal point for the composition.
