The morning of 11th December 2012 dawned ice cold with clear skies. Perfect for photographing the planets Saturn and Mercury which were both visible close to the horizon at twilight.
So an hour before sunrise I found myself on the banks of the river Dee at Queensferry, which is handily placed between home and work for me.
I wasn't disappointed, as the colours in the pre-dawn sky were fantastic and showed off the waning cresent moon and the planets beautifully.
