Well Liz and I finally made it to the top of the Dachstein galcier.
Getting up here had always been one of our 'must dos' during our holiday in Austria, but what we didn't realise was that the day we had chosen as being the best weather day for such a trip was also a national holiday, and it seemed that the whole population of Austria had the same idea as us!
Never mind, as the whole outdoors experience is very well organised in Austria, and even when you have to wait for cable cars and such like there's always plenty to see and do.
Anyhow, we made it to the top and we were blown away by the view. Wherever you looked there was stunning vistas to admire and photograph.
For me, this sort of grand scenery just begs for the panoramic format, but I was without my usual tripod (not popular on a jam packed cable car) so I had to attempt a hand held stitch instead, and hope in the almost miraculous ability of PhotoShop CS5 to join wonky shots together.
Well I wasn't disappointed, either with the scenery or the stitch. This one looks east from the cable car complex and skywalk.
