The northern coastline of Normandy is puncuated along its length with charming seaside resorts, Deauville, Honfleur, Etretat and, my favourite, Yport.
Nestled in a break along a line of very impressive chalk cliffs, the little town seems largely untouched by modern tourist developments, with the exception of a large and somewhat incongruous casino slap bang on the waterfront.
However, when Liz and I visited here during our week long stay in Normandy we were greeted with a wall of grey sea mist and virtually zero visibility.
But, we stayed on, had some lunch, and were rewarded in the afternoon by thinning mist and a weak sun which graduallly revealed the line of cliffs stretching off into the distance towards Fecamp and Cap Fagnet to the east.
The glowing remains of the sea mist made for a very attractive scene, and photographically speaking, provided a great sense of depth to the composition which featured beached boats in the foreground.
