This view shows the very impressive chalk cliffs at the French seaside resort of Yport, on the Normandy coast.
Sharing the same geology as the white cliffs of Dover on the other side of the English channel, this coastline is rapidly eroding, turning the sea a milky white and earning the nickname of La Coté d'Albâtre, or the Alabaster Coast.
This view shows the cliffs lit by mid-afternoon sunlight, with the last vestiges of a dense sea mist just taking the edge off contrast and saturation as the coast recedes eastwards into the distance towards Fécamp.
I hope we'll return here in a few years' time and see how erosion has changed the scenery around this most typically French of coastal resorts.
