Offa's Dyke is an ancient pathway that used to mark the border between Mercia and Powys.
The pathway runs all the way from the Severn estuary in South Wales to Prestatyn on the North wales coast, but it's the part that runs through the Clwydian range of hills close to where my wife Liz and I live that we enjoy exploring.
The location shown here is at the summit of Penycloddiau, and is a nice hike up through part of the Clwydian forest (or what's left of it) to get here.
The views are great, especially towards the coast which can be seen clearly when it's not raining, and back along the range of hills to the summit of Moel Famau in the opposite direction.
In the background is the Moel Y Parc transmitter, which serves as a useful landmark for anyone hiking this route.
