Another preconceived image that shows the benefit of getting to know your local beauty spots intimately.
This is Llandudno pier, but photographed at a time of year, time of day and state of tide that all combine to produce a wonderfully lit and evocative image.
Using my sun compass I knew at what time in the year the sun would rise behind the pier. Combining that with a knowledge of the tides and a good weather forecast meant that I knew where and when I needed to be to get this picture.
This is one of my favourite coastal shots, and I'm certainly glad I did my homework on this one!
