OK I know - it's trite, cheesy, clichéd, twee and so on, but this olde worlde rendition of the pier at Llandudno on the North Wales coast is just so in keeping with the overall ambiance of faded Victorian splendour that defines this seaside town.
It was a miserable day with a biting wind and flat grey overcast when I took this photo while out for a bracing stroll on the pier with my long suffering wife Liz. In fact, the only reason I took the photo at all was because of the bunting, which enlivened the boring sky and provided some interesting geometry to the composition, complimenting the receding lines of the pier structure.
The image straight out of the camera was distinctly uninspiring, but with a lot of playing around in PhotoShop I came up with this final piece, which gives me a bit of a chuckle if nothing else.
