The story behind this image

Walking past the recently developed Victoria Dock in Caernarfon on the North Wales coast, and heading away up the side of the Menai Straits, you come across this quite new concrete pier.

During daylight hours it looks distinctly blocky and unattactive, but at dusk, as photographed here with a long exposure, the pier and its reflection take on a much more surreal appearance set against the twilight afterglow.

It's funny how the right light can change the mundane and ugly into something much more appealing.
