I'd just spent an interesting couple of hours photographing the incoming tide at Llandudno's famous pier for a potential time lapse video sequence.
It's amazing how many friendly people will stop for a chat and ask what I'm doing while the camera clicks away.
Once I'd finished my time lapse shooting I re-positioned much closer to the breaking waves to take this long exposure of the brightly lit pier with milky seas and rocks in the foreground.
One thing I wasn't expecting was such a noticeable difference in colour temperature across the scene, with the cool blue tones of the night sky contrasting with the warm orange tones of the nearby streetlights shining on the shoreline.
I thought about correcting this in Photoshop later on, or even rendering the scene in black and white, but in the end I found the original colour casts to give the most interesting and visually appealing 'look' to the image.
Sometimes these quirks of light are just best left alone!
