The story behind this image

Seaside towns, such as Llandudno on the North Wales coast shown here, provide a wealth of opportunity for photographers. There's something about the British seaside that's quintessentially quirky, whether it be odd characters, unusual architecture or strange weather, so there's always something out of the ordinary to see and photograph.

I find that one of the most attractive aspects of Llandudno's East Shore is the promenade and sea wall, which sweep around the crescent shaped bay between the two Ormes.

The perspective offered by such an arrangement is highly attractive, and in this photo I've emphasised the form and flow of the steps, promenade and seafront facade by using a wide angle lens.

The low angle of the early morning sun helped in defining forms, and the relatively subdued light allowed me to capture the entire scene in one press of the shutter without the buildings overexposing.
