The story behind this image

Strolling along the side of Llyn Ogwen on a lovely sunny August afternoon in the beautiful Ogwen valley, part of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, my attention was grabbed by a large patch of reeds on the surface of the lake.

Set against the dark waters, the golden reeds were glowing in the sunlight, just begging to be photographed as they waved gently to and fro.

It was the matter of only a couple of seconds to frame and take this image, arranging the reeds diagonally across my viewfinder to give a dynamic composition, and rotating my polarising filter to remove the glare from the surface of the water.

A press of the shutter and the photo was captured, with barely a break in my stride.

Normally a great deal more care and preparation goes into the taking of one of my photos, but every now and then a quickie is all it takes.
