Another day, another Lough. This is Lough Graney, near Galway in the west of Ireland.
Most of my photos are reasonably carefully planned but some are just pure serendipity, being in the right place at just the right time, and such is the case here.
My wife Liz and I were touring the area by car, as the weather was too wet and windy to contemplate any serious walking, when we arrived at the shore of Lough Graney and stopped to eat a sandwich. Rain squalls were regularly crossing the landscape, interspersed by periods of calm, and, while we were eating the sun came out briefly, the wind dropped and the Lough became mirror smooth.
Well it was out with the camera sharpish like and I managed to get just a couple of reflection photos before the wind picked up and ruffled the surface of the Lough, the clouds rolled over and the rain began again.
Sometimes I think that these brief moments of beauty are all the more precious for how fleeting they are.
