One item on my wife Liz's and my bucket list is to explore the whole of the Wild Atlantic Way, stretching from the southwest coast of Ireland at Kinsale, all the way up to Malin Head in the far north.
So we made the most of our opportunity during our week long stay at Youghal in County Cork on the southwest coast to drive and hike around the area.
Heading west from Youghal along the coast we came to the scarily named Roaring Water Bay, and although the weather was calm, sunny and rather lovely during our visit I can imagine things can get rather frisky here in a full blown Atlantic storm, with nothing but ocean between here and America.
The inlets and islets that form this part of the coast looked absolutely stunning in the late spring sunshine, and I found that the details of the small scale fishing industry that this area is dependant on to be quite visually compelling.
Such as these lobster pots, piled up on the quayside of the local fishing and ferry terminal with their vivid green colour and fine detail contrasting with the out of focus (deliberately so!) landscape in the background.
