Setting off from Port Quin, on the north Cornish coast, there's a dramatic coastal path that winds its way around bays and headlands for miles. Liz and I tramped a fair bit of it with the wind howling around our ears and the odd shower coming through and pelting us with rain.
In between the showers the sun would come out briefly and transform the scene into glorious technicolour. The sea would turn from grey to deep green and the vegetation along the path would glow in the light.
Liz thought of a great idea, and that was to use the complimentary shower caps from the country club where we were based as rain covers for the camera. These were elasticated, and dead easy to whip on and off as the fleeting sunlight raced across the landscape.
It's amazing how such a simple idea meant I could take a photo in conditions that were changing so rapidly that, by the time I'd unloaded my camera from the protective womb of the LowePro, the moment would have passed.
