One of the few TV programs I really enjoy is Weatherman Walking, on the BBC, in which meteorologist Derek Brockway explores various walks and rambles around the beauty spots of Wales.
One of his walks took in a favourite area of mine, the Nant Ffrancon valley in the Snowdonia National Park, albeit he started his walk at the opposite end of the valley to where Liz and I usually go.
Inspired to have a ramble from the Bethesda end of the valley by watching the program, Liz and I set off along the path that took us through some lovely woodland that had sprung up in the abandoned slate working that dot the area.
Of course, I had my camera with me, which came in handy as I spotted this photogenic juxtaposition of slate and tree, with the warm colours of summer just jumping out at me.
A bit of a shuffle to get the composition as I wanted it, a couple of exposures, adjusted to capture maximum shadow detail without blowing out the sunny hightlights on the slate, and we were on our way again up the valley to Llyn Ogwen at the far end.
