The forests of the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado were a blaze of colour in the last two weeks of September 2015 while my wife Liz and I were blessed to be on holiday there.
Aspens and cottonwood trees were glowing yellow and gold, interspersed amongst the evergreen pines whose darkness only served to accentuate the fall colours even more.
This patch of vibrant aspens was tucked in amongst a stand of pines over on the far side of Bear Lake, and a good zoom and some post processing cropping helped to emphasise the light/dark contrast that attracted my eye in the first place.
