Drive south along the Interstate I7 from Estes Park, in Colorado, as after s few miles you'll come across a right turn for the Wild Basin Trailhead.
This is one of the less frequented trails in the Rocky Mountain National Park, which Liz and I decided to explore during our two week stay in the area.
The Wild Basin Trail follows the course of the St Vrain Creek, the main feature of which is a series of delightful waterfalls - Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades and Ouzel Falls.
We made it as far as the Calypso Cascades, a good two mile hike from the trailhead on a warm, sunny September afternoon.
All along the way I photographed the waterfalls, big and small, but not many of my photos turned out due to the excessive contrast between the brighty lit water and dark shadows either side of the creek.
But at one spot I found this little rill, hidden in shadow, that made for a nice photographic reminder of a lovely place of such peace and tranquility.
