This shot was taken on board the P&O cruise liner Ventura, in the North Sea en route to Norway.
The weather in the North Sea was fantastic, with bright warm sun and wispy cirrus clouds. When we go to the coast of Norway things changed but that's another story!
Ships are fascinating places to walk around with a view to photography, there are so many details, angles and colours available to make interesting compositions with.
In this case I thought the detail and colours in this composition looked like one of the old art deco posters advertising romantic cruises to exotic locations. However, instead of a young couple leaning on the railing gazing romantically into each others' eyes I got an old bloke trying to take his shirt off!
I thought about cloning him out but then I thought 'no, he was just as much a part of the experience as the rest of the scene, so he stays.
