One of the most majestic and popular views to be enjoyed in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales is this scene encompassing the peaks and ridges of the Snowdon Horseshoe mountain range, as seen from the side of the A4086 overlooking the waters of the stunning Llyn Mymbyr.
However, a clear view of the peaks is rare due to the somewhat inclement weather in this part of the world!
This was certainly the case when my wife Liz and I took one of our many drives around the northern half of the National Park in December 2017, with dramatic clouds boiling over Snowdon and the surrounding mountains.
But dramatic clouds are just meat and drink to me, and I soon had my camera set up by the side of the road to shoot the half an hour's worth of still images needed to make my Snowdon Timelapse #7 video.
An added delight was the brief shafts of direct light as the sun found the odd gap in the clouds, painting the landscape below in a dance of sunlight and shadow.
I chose this individual frame from the hundreds taken on that day to present as an image in its own right, showing a great combination of brooding clouds, snow capped mountains and a strip of brightly lit strip of foreground landscape.

Filters - Polarising filter used to reduce glare and enhance colours. 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the relative brightness of the sky.
