While Liz and I were enjoying a stopover in Chicago we spent a lot of time walking around admiring buildings from the outside. However, the demands of nature on one occasion caused to go inside the Chicago library, which was a cultural listed building, although we didn't know it at the time.
Well, what should have been a three minute rest halt turned into a full hour's worth of jaw dropping exploration as we walked around and photographed inside this amazing building. I asked the concierge if it was OK to photograph inside and he couldn't have been more helpful, even to the point of guiding us round and showing me the best views, such as this one looking up a fantastic marble staircase.
