The Ogwen valley in Snowdonia forms part of my 'circle of wonder' driving route that encompasses the A55 (God's own highway) that runs along the coast, and then the A5 which loops south through the mountains.
This part of the drive is particularly beautiful, taking in the peaks of Tryfan, Y Garn and Pen-Yr-Olwen together with Llyn Ogwen and the very impressive waterfall that flows from the lake into the Nant Ffrancon valley.
The scenery on the day photographed here just took my breath away (along with the cold), as the heavy snowfall had blanketed the normally grey rocks in glistening white and the frozen lake was just surreal.
I wanted to include a glimpse of the sun in this composotion, to add a definite focal point so I positioned myself carefully so that just an edge was visible over the peaks of the Glyderau.
What a fantastic day out!
