The island of Tenerife, part of Spain's Canary Islands, has a rich and varied volcanic landscape and my wife Liz and I spent most of our week long winter sun break in January 2020 exploring the lesser known regions in our little hire car.
One such area is the Parque Rural de Anaga in Tenerife's northeastern corner, with views from the high mountain roads out over the both the north and south coasts, taking in dramatic volcanic geology on the way.
This panoramic view is to the south, catching the evening sun on the mountains and a seemingly tiny oil rig just off the coast at Las Teresitas.
