The end of the day can provide some magical opportunities for photographers and other lovers of light. After the sun has just set there's around a twenty minute window when there's still enough light in the sky to balance the artificial lights of the town and thus make for very nicely lit images.
This photo was taken on just such an evening while standing on the pier at Llandudno on the North Wales coast and looking back to the west over the promenade as the lights came on.
What I wasn't expecting was the spectacular light show in the sky as the cumulus cloud over the town was lit up from beneath with gorgeous orange light from the dying rays of the sun as it dropped below the horizon.
The show only lasted a few minutes, and it was a real priviledge to have watched and photographed it.
