I'm blessed by living very close to Moel Famau, which is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty (ANOB).
This means I can climb up and down this hill in the early morning, before going to work, and take in the wonder of God's creation (when it's not raining of course!).
One of the routes I often take leads me past a pair of old and twisted trees, one each side of the path on a really steep bit of the mountain.
I've walked past these two trees in every season, and this particular photo was taken in April 2007, just as the leaves were starting to burst forth with the promise of new life.
These trees were on the edge of a pine plantation which blanketed the hillside below them, but which has now been cut down to make chipboard, leaving only stumps, scars and bits of dead tree to mark their passing.
My two trees are now standing alone on the mountain, overlooking this newly created wilderness. If trees could think and feel I wonder what they'd make of it?
