This seemingly delightful Autumn scene was taken on a day filled with gloom and rain at Maltraeth on the island of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast.
My wife Liz and I were getting serious cabin fever, having been cooped up all week due to the rain, and a trip out was on the cards regardless of the weather.
When the light is flat as it was on this day, I like heading into the woods to shelter from the rain and to photograph the season's colours which the even lighting helps emphasise.
In this case I also used a polariser to help saturate the colours and to increase the shutter speed while I tried a few blur shots by deliberately panning the camera up whilst taking the shot.
I took a variety of blurred and straight photos in these woods and this was my favourite, with a strong composotion and lovely rich colours giving a real autumnal feel to the final image.
