I try and make the effort, at least once a week, to get up early and climb my local mountain Moel Famau before going to work.
Of course I normally take my camera and tripod with me, just in case, and quite often I find myself halfway up the mountain, enraptured by what the light is doing that particular morning, unable to climb any further and just revelling in the glory of God.
This photo was taken on just such an occasion, as the sun had just risen and gorgeous golden light was filtering through the pine forest, highlighting the trees in the background whilst the foreground trees remained briefly in shadow.
Although the light was great I had a problem finding a strong composition in amongst the jumble of trees and branches. Fortunately I found a fallen tree and some ferns that gave a much needed structure to the foreground of the image and it was game on!
I never did make it to the top of Moel Famau that particular morning!
