Aira Force is an impressive series of waterfalls, running eventually into Ullswater, one of the Lake District's most lovely stretches of water.
Around the river are numerous woodland paths which wind past some lovely old oak trees, all bent and knarled with the harsh weather you get in these northerly climes.
This particular tree caught my eye due to the symmetrical arrangement of its main branches, shaped like a large 'V' topped with two smaller 'V' shapes.
A square crop helped to emphasise the symmetry, and rendering the trre trunks and branches as almost black made the shapes that had originally grabbed my attention stand out against the background foliage.
