When the sun shines, Ireland is one of the most beautiful countries on earth (next to wales that is), and the fact the the sun rarely shines here makes the odd occasion when it does all the more delightful.
This photo was taken literally from the back porch of the holiday cottage Liz and I were staying in County Clare in the west of Ireland, during a half hour spell of sunshine in-between the showers that raced across from the Atlantic ocean just a few miles away.
The two great things about changeable weather from a photographer's point of view are that the drama that gets played out in the atmosphere can give great light and stunning clouds, and also that the air is washed clean of pollutants and dust by the regular showers, giving a clarity and glow to the scenery that's just entrancing.
Well worth putting up with a bit of rain to see and photograph God's creation so beautifully displayed.
