The A5 is a road with an impressive history.
Of course, I'm mostly concerned with Thomas Telford's stretch from Chirk to Holyhead, which runs through some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, in the Snowdonia National Park.
One of the best lengths of the A5 runs through the Ogwen valley, and I never can drive this stretch without stopping to marvel at the beauties of Tryfan on one side of the road and Llyn Ogwen on the other.
Most of the time, mountain photography involves a sweaty hike to some lonely spot miles from anywhere, but here on the side of the A5 everything you might want to see is available just a few paces from the car - ideal for the lazier outdoor enthusiast!
Of course, you can go climbing to the top of Tryfan if you want to, but it's nice to know that you can see such inspiring scenery from the side of the road.
Nice one Mr Telford!
