Strolling slowly back down the slopes of my local hill, Moel Famau, after a great morning's photography I found that the opportunities for taking images weren't quite over yet.
With a low winter's sun grazing the contours of the hills around me, this valley leading off down into the Vale of Clywd was picked out in a wonderfully subtle blend of highlight and shadow.
The serpentine meandering of the folded landscape, emphasised by the patches of light and shade, naturally led my eye through the scene to the far peaks of Snowdonia on the distant horizon, while the remains of an Iron Age fort can be seen on the hilltop to the right of the image.
A beautiful landscape, just needing the right light to bring it to life.
