At first sight this is a very standard image of St Mark's Square, Venice, taken from the Giudecca Canal that runs past the waterfront. And so it is.
What makes this image worth keeping is that I took it from the tenth deck of the P&O cruise liner Arcadia as she sailed majestically up the canal to her berth at the port to the west of the city.
This high vantage point is one that not many people get to enjoy and photograph from, and from January 2013 no-one will see this view from this angle again, as large cruise liners will be banned from sailing up the Giudecca Canal.
So, what at first glance looks like a perfectly ordinary photo could turn out to be quite a rare image.
